On Friday 24th October the transition year students are organising 5km run fundraiser for the school and for a local charity. All students and staff will participate in the event which will take place in the local area. That day will be a non-uniform jersey day and the event will take place from lunch time onwards. Everyone is expected to participate in the event and each student can do so at their own pace be it by walking, jogging running or a combination of all 3! Over the coming weeks sample training schedules will be posted on notice boards around the school so each student is ready on the day!
Unlike other 5 or 10km events we will not be looking for an entry fee-instead we are asking each student to raise at least €10 sponsorship. Each student will receive sponsorship cards in the coming days and they are to be returned to Mr Phair before Friday 17th October. The minimum €10 raised will contribute towards participating in the event and also for the non-uniform day. If possible students can be sponsored more than the €10!
The TY’s, students council, staff, parents council and local community will all be involved in the event and any parents/guardians/friends/relatives can participate in the event on the day for €5.
On returning to the school after you complete your walk/jog or run there will be activities on the field with music and food to conclude our first term back-weather permitting.
Your support with this event would be greatly appreciated as funds raised will go towards the school and also the Butterfly Club, a charity that many students in the school are involved with.
Thanks
Mr Phair and the Transition Year Class 2014/15
