For six weeks, the Transition Years have been partaking in a specific training programme with students from LIT to improve their muscular strength, muscular endurance, agility, power and cardiovascular endurance. This was in preparation for a competition on Monday 27th of March in the Limerick’s Fittest Schools competition in L.I.T. After the six weeks of preparation, three boys and three girls were selected to represent Coláiste na Trócaire at this event. The students were Patrick Gallagher, Michael Broderick, Joanne Foley [captain], Noirin Lenihan, Amy Harnett and Eoin Burke. The competition consisted of a number of challenging activities such as tug of war, plank challenge, wall sit challenge, tyre relay, welly toss and an obstacle course. Our team of students worked exceptionally hard and performed extremely well. Despite the other schools putting up very tough competition, our school managed to come out on top and bring the cup home to Rathkeale. Congratulations to all involved!
