Our Junior Girls Soccer team defeated Colaiste Mhuire Askeaton 2-1 (AET) in the semi final of the Munster Cup on Monday 8th December 2014.
The match took place in mixed conditions in Rathkeale which seen our girls take the lead in the 1st half with an Eadaoin Lyons goal after being set up wonderfully by Brenda O’Keefe. To their credit Askeaton replied with an equalizer before the half time break. The second half proved to be equally as close with both teams cancelling each other out and the game headed into extra time. Our girls showed great desire, fitness and drive and got a deserved 2nd goal, again from Eadaoin Lyons, in the first half of extra time. A goalmouth scramble 5 minutes from the end of the game looked like a certain goal for Askeaton but the ball was eventually cleared by Maeve Power to safety.
The girls now look forward to a Munster Final after the Christmas break.
