Siobhán Ivess was one of the winners of an award at the National Career Skills Competition. There were 1500 entries and Siobhán was one of eleven students who won an award in the category of Leaving Certificate Established, Leaving Certificate Applied and Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme.
Presentations were made at a ceremony at the Department of Education, Dublin. Ashlee Barrett (student) & Ms. Coffey (Programmes Coordinator) accompanied Siobhán to receive her award. The winners were joined by Richard Bruton, TD who had his first official engagement as the new Minister of Education and Skills.
The national competition is sponsored by McDonald’s Ireland and run by www.careersportal.ie. Ms. Prendiville facilitated Siobhan’s entry. Each student must demonstrate their understanding of a chosen career, the educational pathways that lead to it, the most relevant knowledge requirements and the most important transferable skills needed to be successful.
