Last Tuesday thirteen students from First Year took part in this year’s Poetry Aloud competition. This is an annual poetry speaking competition organised by Poetry Ireland and the National library of Ireland. This year the competition was held in St. Brigid’s Secondary School in Killarne. Each student had to recite a set piece from prescribed anthologies of W.B.Yeats and Seamus Heaney. All students performed well and enjoyed the opportunity of performing poetry. The experience will benefit them hugely as they continue their study of poetry.
