What is it?
The Student Support Team (SST) is a team of teachers that meet to deal with any pastoral or personal issues with which a student may be struggling.
Who is it for?
Students who are upset, worried, feeling down, in crisis or struggling in anyway are encouraged to speak to any member of staff. That staff member will support the student and refer the matter to the SST.
How does it work?
The SST meets every week and aims to provide ongoing personal, emotional and psychological support to students who may be struggling. The aim is to identify areas of concern with and for the student and to try to improve any given difficulties so that life can be positive for the student.
The team operates on a ‘need to know’ basis. Coláiste na Trócaire aims to ensure that no student is isolated or unnoticed. We have an open communication approach where all members of the school community look out for each other.
Who is involved?
The SST consists of a minimum of four teachers including the Deputy Principal, the Guidance Counsellor, the school Chaplain and teachers. The members of the team may change from time to time. All team members have completed training.
