Declan McCarthy, past pupil of Colaiste na Trocaire, recently received a commendation award from University College Dublin.
On the 18th of November, Declan, with many of his peers were invited to attend a ceremony to celebrate their outstanding achievement in the Leaving Certificate of 2015. Parents and school representatives also attended where the school was presented with a commemorative plaque in honour of Declan’s success.
Declan has always been an impeccable and exemplary student, always giving of his best effort and applying himself to his work. It is a just and well deserved award for Declan. The occasion in the O’Reilly Hall in UCD was a special one where it was a pleasure to recognise that efforts of all the students who achieved academic excellence.
Colaiste na Trocaire invited Declan and his family to celebrate also at the school, where Declan was presented with the EXCEL Student of the Year- a bursary presented to the top achieving student academically of that year. Significantly, two years earlier, Declan was commended at the same annual presentation for achieving a straight A Junior Certificate. The whole school attended the ceremenony and it was truly an honour to hear Declan speak of his time in Colaiste na Trocaire.
Declan is now studying Bio-Medical Science in UCD and thoroughly enjoying college life. We are delighted for him and delighted to see our own student’s doing so well.
